What We Do

We encourage all pupils to nurture a personal responsibility for high standards of learning, behaviour and respect for others. This extends to compassion for others, charitable contributions and an increased awareness of local and global issues.

Pupils, staff and parents have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for Macmillan, Save the Children and the Roald Dahl charity through coffee mornings, dress up days and cake sales. Furthermore, through pupil, staff and parental support of Non Uniform Days, Summer/Christmas Fairs, cake sales the Friends of Kennet Valley School have been able to invest in a rich variety of resources to enhance the teaching and learning environment.

We thank all pupils, staff and parents for their ongoing support. We will continue to develop a broad range of compassionate and charitable opportunities to help others and extend pupils awareness of local and global issues.

Over a number of years our pupils, staff and parents have supported a number of causes. These include the:

Trussel Trust – Pupils and their families kindly donated gifts of tins and packet foods which were given to support families in our local community. Between 2014 and 2015 47kg of food items were donated via the Harvest Festival and other school events.
Prospect Hospice, Savernake Appeal – Through the “miles of pennies” and wearing green and yellow in support of the appeal the pupils, staff and parents have raised £320.37 towards a new Outpatient facility at the hospice.
Children in Need – Pyjama Day helped raise £143.82 for the annual Children in Need appeal. We were also fortunate to receive a visit from Pudsey Bear and BBC Radio Wiltshire.
Shonda Project, Kenya – We have established an educational link with St Johns Primary school in Shonda. The school’s support for the Shonda project includes “Gifts to Shonda”, donations of tee-shirts, uniforms and pencils, letter writing and a whole school video conference (www.shonda.org.uk).
