Music

Music is an important part of daily life at Kennet Valley School.

We use the Sing-Up mixed-age planning to support our teaching of the music curriculum. This learning is then enhanced through a range of other opportunities:

The Musician of the Month materials are used to provide varied music coming into Collective Worship each day, as well as developing everyone's knowledge of a range of musical genres.

In addition to singing in Collective Worship, each child takes part in a musical production at some point in the year.

The school has been involved in the Thinking Music project for the last 3 years and our current Year 3/4 children (Columba class) are looking forward to their performance.

Private music lessons are available in a range of woodwind instruments and drums. All children in Year 1 learn the recorder and, this year, all Year 2 and 3 children have had the opportunity to learn to play the ukulele.
