Sport at Kennet Valley School

Every Wednesday afternoon the whole school walks up to the beautiful Kennet Valley School for an afternoon of sport and activity, with different age groups being engaged in appropriate activity. Over the course of the year we cover a wide variety of sports and skills, including: netball, hockey, rugby, football, dance, tennis, team building, gymnastics, handball and dodgeball. In addition to our regular team we love welcoming specialists in to help out. Our year 4/5 class have just enjoyed a fabulous 6 weeks fencing coaching, and currently, we have a coach from Marlborough rugby club working with students from year 4-6, and sharing his expertise.

In addition to our Wednesday afternoons all classes enjoy at least one more sporting or active session each week, which may involve working with the class teacher or with an outside coach. This term we have a yoga teacher coming in to work with classes.

In addition to PE in school we love taking part in sports festivals and competitions. Everyone from Year 1 to 6 is involved, enabling the children to put their skills into action in friendly competition with children from other schools. We are often complimented on our kindness and sporting behaviour.
