Kennet’s Heroic Hockey

On Wednesday the 26th of February 2025 a community youth hockey tournaments was held at Marlborough College astro-turf.
In the tournament there were three groups: A, B and C. KVS (Kennet Valley School) were in group C. Alongside them in their group were Chilton Foliat, Marlborough St Mary’s and Woodborough.
The first match was at 9:45 am and KVS were playing Children Foliat. It was a comfortable win for KVS as they were dominating the fame, however, the final score was only 1-0.
KVS then had a two game break between 10:00 am and 10:15 am where they discussed tactics and had a well-earned drink break.
Whilst KVS had their break, St Mary’s played Wood borough at 10:00 am and St Mary’s also played Chilton Foliat at 10:15am.
Following the break, KVS played Woodborough and could not penetrate the Woodborough defence. After the ten minutes of the game, the final score was 0-0.
KVS then had a small one game break and then proceeded in playing St Mary’s. It wall all KVS however in the last play of the fame an attacking St Mary’s counter broke the scoreline resulting in a harsh 1-0 loss for KVS.
Following the St Mary’s game the slightly down-hearted KVS players went on to play Chilton Foliat again. Although Chilton Foliat played well KVS did noy let the ball leave Chilton Foliat’s half and won by a staggering 5-0. The goal scorers were Connie, Leander, Freya and to goals from Jasmin.
KVS then had a two game break in which they ate their lunch.
After than they played Wood borough for a second time. Woodborough scored making it 0-1. Following this KVS scored a late equaliser from Joseph following a great passing play from the rest of the team.
KVS then played St Mary’s and won 1-0 due to a finish from Teddy and a great assist from Annie.
KVS had done all they could and all that was left was the presentation.
At the presentations the organiser of the tournament announced that the winner of Group C was Kennet Valley School!
The players then returned to school for a well earned rest, followed by PE.
